Gladstone Road Runners are pleased to announce Nhulundu Health Service have joined with the club in sponsoring the annual Ecofest Trail Run. The run will be known as Nhulundu Health Service Ecofest Fun Run and will also commemorate Mabo Day.
Nhulundu Health Service are also attempting to attract local indigenous runners into a healthy active lifestyle with the ultimate outcome of unearthing a talented runner for "The Marathon Project" Follow the link to read more about it.
The Indigenous Marathon Project:
1. Uses the marathon to change lives;
2. Creates Indigenous Champions to increase physical activity and promote healthy lifestyles; and
3. Aims to have an Indigenous distance runner on the 2016 Australian Olympic Team.
The run will commence at 8:00am on Sunday June 03 from the Botanical Gardens as part of the Ecofest Celebrations and will offer a 3K and 10K event. (10K distance is subject to some track maintenance)
The run will be very informal this year. All nominations will be on the morning of the event and will simply require you to sign the indemnity form and complete a raffle ticket to put you in the draw for some random prizes post race.
Nomination fees will be gold coin (or better!) per person with proceeds to go to Gladstone Base Hospital Oncology Unit.
Their will be no official times or places taken, however the finish chute and the timing clock will be in position for you to note your finish time if you desire. We are still hoping to capture some photos as people finish.
